Shar Pei

The Shar Pei is a unique dog breed known for its distinct wrinkled skin and “hippopotamus” face. Originating from China, these medium-sized dogs typically weigh between 45 to 60 pounds (20 to 27 kg) and stand about 18 to 20 inches (46 to 51 cm) tall at the shoulder. Their short, bristly coat comes in various colors and requires minimal grooming. Shar Peis are known for their calm and loyal demeanor, often forming strong bonds with their families. They can be reserved or aloof with strangers, making them good watchdogs. Despite their tough appearance, they are gentle and loving companions.
