Golden Poison Dart Frog

The Phyllobates terribilis, commonly known as the golden poison dart frog, is a small, brightly colored amphibian native to the rainforests of Colombia. Measuring about 2 inches (5 cm) in length, it is renowned for its striking yellow or golden skin, which serves as a warning to predators about its potent toxicity. These frogs contain batrachotoxin, one of the most toxic substances found in nature, making them lethal to other animals. Despite their dangerous nature, they are fascinating to observe due to their unique mating rituals and vibrant colors. In the wild, they primarily feed on small insects, and their toxicity is derived from their diet.
